Together with the Institute for Global Leadership (IGL), Scholars at Risk, Wellesley Centers for Women and the Freedom Project will host a virtual panel on Environmental Justice and Climate Change: Turkey, Tibet and Beyond, featuring international experts. All interested students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend.
Panelists will be:
- Yonten Nyima – Human Geographer specializing in Tibetan pastoralism; he draws from political ecology and political economy in examining China’s ongoing development and environmental policies in Tibet.
- Ozge Yaka – Alexander von Humboldt PSI Fellow, University of Potsdam; her work on local community struggles against hydropower plants in Turkey converges social movement studies, critical social theory, theories of justice, gender studies and phenomenology.
- Bethany Tietjen: Junior Research Fellow CIERP; her work is on the links between climate change, migration, and food security.
